Oral Habit
In their own words, Oral Habit are ‘Brighton based Psych-Punk warriors, formed from DIY attic recordings by brothers Charlie & Felix Hales. Tear up the stage with garage rock, face melting noise. (For fans of Rod Stewart)’
We would happen to agree with Oral Habit on this statement, except maybe the latter, but we could be wrong… We’ve been friends with the Felix, the absolute machine of a drummer, since before the bands formation and have been fans ever since. The creative integrity, humour and passion the brothers share is admirable. They bring an edge of authenticity to the London music scene that usually lacks bands with such traits
They opened the show for us on the 25th of January at Peckham Audio. Despite being a two piece on a relatively big stage, they filled the room with their presence and noise. elder Hales brother and front man Charlie navigated the stage like an excited puppy, barely staying flat for more than a second, whilst Felix held down the fort on the drums, providing steady ground for Charlie’s antics. It has to be said, it set the bar real high for the following acts…
Not only is the music pure quality, DIY garage / garbage, that scratches that hardcore itch, witnessing an Oral Habit show will leave you mesmerised, and if your taste is anything like ours, wanting more. They have recently found themselves playing more live shows in London, as well as continuing their rein of home territory along the south coast in areas such as Brighton and Portsmouth
Oral Habit’s commitment to the live shows, as well as the commitment to the craft of making powerful in-your-face punk bangers makes them one of our favourites to ever grace a Far From line up
